Shades of green...

Before our granddaughter was born, I wrote about shades of spring green in her journal.  I thought when she was old enough, these thoughts would give her an appreciation for each small miracle of God.  In my own life, I find great hope in springtime as I survey the branches on a winding parkway, watching for signs of new growth.
When my mother was living, we would welcome spring together with a favorite drive to experience the new leaves of green. Later, with failing eyesight, my mother wasn't able to enjoy the colors of the season. On my weekly visits, I would describe this glorious time of year while offering her a moment of new eyes filled with wonder. She never tired of hearing about the contrast of greens as their branches waved on a beautiful spring morning.

There are still shades of green as the season progresses now with flowers of various color. Yet, each year as winter hangs on, my eyes look to the trees with new hope.

"The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food." Genesis 2:9.
